Welcome to Class 3 – Year 1
Mrs. Shildrick and Mrs. Carter are very excited about the year ahead with our class of amazing children.
Our class is a busy, hard-working place, which challenges our children in fun and creative ways.
Our school day begins at 8:55 and ends at 3:00.
Year 1 children will be working towards their National Phonics Screening Check in the summer. With lots of practise throughout the year, the children will be well-prepared for this.
To help your child gain more confidence with their reading and develop a love of books, we encourage the children to read a story book every night with an adult. Reading stimulates creativity and exposes the children to rich language.
Spellings, Maths and all other homework will be issued on a Friday, and is to be completed by the following Thursday. If you have any questions about homework please let us know, we are happy to help!
P.E. will be taught on a Monday and a Friday. Please leave P.E. kits in school for the full half term, thank you.
