A huge thank you to the many parents, carers, staff and pupils who attended the Remembrance Service at Thornaby cenotaph on Sunday to pay our respects to those who gave so much.

Year 6 were honoured to meet Mr Pickering, a veteran from World War 2. Mr Pickering served in the navy and was stationed around the world in places such as Singapore. Year 6 were enthralled to find out more about his experiences and the impact on him and his family.It is important that we learn from heroes such as Mr Pickering about the personal impact of the war and we can never forget how much people have given so we enjoy freedom today.

Thank you to all of our parents and carers for being so generous with our recent campaign to help our local food bank with much needed resources and supplies. sadly, many local families rely on the food bank to provide meals and support. the staff from the food bank came to school as they were stunned by your generosity and support. It was  wonderful to see the huge variety in activities and experiences the children encountered during Art Week. We had clay sculptures, autumn collages, nature trails, Starry Nights with Van Gogh. self portraits, string prints …the list goes on! Take a look on Twitter to see some of our amazing work.

A wonderful day today where the children explored many of the different countries across Europe. We travelled from Romania, to Spain, to Italy, to Germany, to Norway and to France! The children loved finding out more about our friends across Europe and experimenting and learning different languages. The continental cafe was a huge success with children and families enjoying a tasty croissant or two. Tres bien.

It’s back by popular demand : Disconnect to Reconnect! As a school community we are taking the lead and finding ways to enjoy life without technology. So we are putting down devices and finding more meaningful things to do to encourage our children to develop healthy lifestyles. We look forward to hearing about all of the exciting things you’ve been up to. Enjoy!

We have been learning all about one of the greatest explorers ever: our very own Captain James Cook. To make our learning as rich as possible and to help us to remember all about his fantastic achievements we have been writing and performing our Captain Cook song with the help od our school musician, Joe Hammill. The St Patrick’s green and white army made their way in huge numbers on Saturday to watch the mighty England lionesses take on the samba stars from Brazil. Despite vocal support from children, parents and staff England suffered a 2-1 defeat. A fantastic day out to see our national team in action. Thank you to Mrs Holtby for organising yet another great sporting event for us to attend.
