Welcome to Class 1
We are a Reception class within our Foundation Stage.
Our teacher is Miss Newby.
Our teaching assistants are Mrs Jackson, Mrs McCabe and Mrs Pereira.
In Class 1, we do PE on a Monday with Mr Bowman. Please send PE kits in on a Monday and leave them in school until Friday.
Each child in Class 1 will have a reading book, some key words and a reading record. Please could you read with your child every night at home and send their book into school each day to practise. The children enjoy reading in our new cosy reading corner!
We love learning new things and getting busy in the different areas of learning; especially in our Outdoor Barn! In our class we have phonics sessions each day and literacy and numeracy focused activities. We like to impress our teachers by trying our best and by being independent learners. We have lots of exciting things planned this year so please keep checking our Newsletters to find out more.
Our Class pet!
In Class 1 we have a pet tortoise called Ernie! We help to look after him by feeding him, bathing him and playing with him. We love looking after Ernie.
Here are some pictures of us enjoying our first few weeks in big school!
European Languages Day!
Class 1 learnt all about France for European languages day! We made French flags, learnt some French words, dressed up in the French colours and tasted some yummy French food.
We’ve been learning all about Autumn in Class 1. We went on an Autumn hunt and talked about the changes we see during this season. The children collected different Autumnal objects.
The children loved exploring mixing colours during art week.
Come to the Circus!
We have been learning all about the Circus! The children have showcased their talents in a talent show, practised circus skills and focused on books such as ‘The Singing Mermaid’ by Julia Donaldson.
